Original Goods for Research & Expression
Small, private software, made to be trusted with your own records.
OGRE Arts is an independent studio building apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Each one is paid for once, needs no account, and keeps its data on your devices and in your own iCloud. Nothing you enter is ours to see.
The apps
Four products, one family. Each solves a practical problem the studio ran into first.
-
Linefold Coming soon
Shape your lines of thought.
A private workspace for text, voice, and image notes, simple tasks, and ordered sequences called Note Strings. Every note gets a permanent citation number the day it is created, so a reference you write today still points to the same note in two years. Strings export to PDF, Word, Markdown, or plain text.
-
CashPlan Coming soon
Plan the movement of money directly.
A calm, manual-first view of household cash: what is available, what is scheduled, and what each project still needs. Accounts, monthly budgets, a bill calendar, and named project funds, with no bank connection required. Locked behind a passcode and Face ID, and fully exportable.
-
Bench & Batch Coming soon
Costing and stock for independent makers.
A workspace for bakers and small makers that answers five questions: what does this cost to make, what should I sell it for, can I make it right now, is the shelf still true, and is the business working. Recipes and build sheets scale automatically and deduct ingredients or materials as batches are recorded.
-
PhotoLex Coming soon
Keywords, captions, and catalogs for photographers.
A Mac app that turns a folder of photographs into searchable XMP sidecars, CSV catalogs, and publication-ready captions using AI visual analysis with your own provider key. Originals are never modified without explicit consent, and every delivery leaves an audit receipt.
How they are built
Every app moves through four modes in order, and never two at once. An idea that arrives during Polish or Release goes into the backlog unless it fixes a blocker.
-
Discover
Decide what the product is: the user, the problem, the one-sentence promise, and the behavior that must never be wrong.
-
Build
Ship the smallest complete slice with real persistence, then make a clean checkout reproducible before adding breadth.
-
Polish
Apply the design system, three layouts for phone, tablet, and desk, and accessibility, without changing behavior.
-
Release
Test on real devices, freeze scope, review security and privacy, ship the approved build, and preserve the record of how it was made.
One product. One canonical repository. One active release candidate. One clearly defined change batch.
The operating rule
What every OGRE Arts app promises
- Private by design
- No account to create, no server of ours to trust. Data lives on your device and, when you choose, in your own iCloud container.
- Paid once
- A single purchase, not a subscription. The app you bought keeps working whether or not you ever buy anything again.
- Useful exits
- Everything you make can leave as an open format: PDF, Word, Markdown, CSV, XMP, or a plain backup file you can restore.
- AI in its own lane
- Where an app uses AI, it uses your key, sends only what you deliberately hand it, and never reads your records behind your back.
- Proven in real use
- Nothing is called finished until it has been used for the real task it was built for. Changes come from observed problems, not guesses.
- Provenance kept
- The studio keeps a dated record of how each product was conceived, designed, and released, so its history is never lost.
